The Kardashians are undoubtedly one of the most famous families in the world, if not the most famous. Every single member of the family is naturally splendid, but it seems that they have become truly obsessed with their appearance, constantly obsessed with being thin and with frequent cosmetic surgeries.

Fans have certainly noticed this, and a video compilation posted on Reddit notes that “the Kardashians have this great obsession with being thin”. Now that four of the five sisters have daughters, one Kardashian in particular is taking steps to protect her child from the family’s constant attention to unhealthy body image.

The oldest of the Kardashian kids, Kourtney, has three children with former Scott Disick: Mason, Penelope and Reign. Kourtney Kardashian has had little work to do and is very active in promoting a healthy life and a positive body image.

In the aforementioned Reddit wire where the video editing was posted, a user asked if others remembered a specific Keeping Up with the Kardashians episode when matriarch Kris Jenner asked Kourtney if she looked fat. Kourtney Kardashian replied, “Don’t use that word in front of my daughter, please”. Kris Jenner answered with sarcasm, “All right” and a laugh, but Kourtney Kardashian wasn’t kidding. Penelope was three years old at the time.

Shortly after that episode aired, Cosmopolitan asked Kourtney Kardashian about the accident. The mother of the three explained, “There are so many conversations you have without thinking the children are listening. I don’t want to start embarrassing anybody. They say that if a mother is sure of her body, it’s much more likely that her daughters don’t have an eating disorder.”

Bravo, Kourtney, for defending something you’re passionate about. Speaking of mothers, this exchange wasn’t the first time Kris’ behavior perpetuated self-consciousness within the Kardashian clan.

Kris Jenner is largely to blame for leading her family’s success from the beginning. He has a close relationship with her children and grandchildren, but he has also done some rather questionable things, often using her influence on her family to manipulate them or the situation.

In a 2011 episode of the KUWTK Khloe & Lamar spin-off, Jenner chastised her daughter Khloé’s weight gain during a phone call, criticizing the way she presented herself to the media and saying, “I feel like we can’t talk about how many cookies you eat between meals,” according to US Weekly. Jenner then apologized publicly.

Jenner’s only son, Rob, gained a lot of weight in the 1920s and was bullied by her family, so much so that he eventually moved away from them. And finally, we can’t forget Kris’ incredible influence on her daughter Kim. Kim was very public about her mother convincing her to pose for her first nude report on Playboy in 2007, and there is strong speculation that it was Jenner who leaked Kim’s porn video even then.
