My 600-lb Life: Tommy Johnson's Story

Tommy Johnson, a 38-year-old Louisiana native, is the subject of tonight’s episode of Season 8 of My 600 Lb Life., which airs Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at 8 p.m. EST/7 p.m. CST on TLC. Tommy tipped the scales at 641 pounds when he decided to seek the help of celebrity bariatric surgeon Dr. Younan Nowzaradan to help him lose some weight and regain control of his life.

In the description of the TLC of Season 8 Episode 11, entitled “Tommy Johnson’s Story”, it says: “Tommy wants to lose weight so he can marry his fiancée and have the life he has always dreamed of with her, but to break the cycle of pathological feeding that left him almost bedridden, he will have to face a piece of his past that he has always kept secret”.

Here’s what we know about the protagonist of the reality show and his journey, based on the promo of tonight’s episode.

My 600-lb Life: Tommy Johnson Is Worried His Fiancee Amanda Is Going to Leave Him if He Doesn’t Get His Life Back on Track

Tommy tells the cameras he loves his girlfriend Amanda with all his heart, and he wants to “give her more than that, more than what I am.”

The reality star continues: “A couple of years ago, I proposed to her and I made a commitment to make her lose weight so that I could give her a proper wedding. She wants to be able to walk down the aisle… but it was years ago that I made a commitment to her and I still haven’t kept it”. And he adds, “I feel like a burden, I don’t feel like a man. I’ve never taken her on a real date.”

When the two got together for the first time, he asked her what she would like to do with him, and she said she loves singing and would like to do karaoke with Tommy . Unfortunately, he admits he hasn’t been able to do that simple thing with her yet, so he hopes everything will change in the coming months when he starts his weight loss journey with Dr. Now.

“We can’t even be intimate with the way I am now,” Tommy tells the producers. “Not being able to sleep in the same bed as my fiancé is just another one of those things that makes you feel a little useless, so I know I have to change.” And he continues, “He’s losing patience with me. I have this constant fear that he’s going to leave me. Every day, wondering when it will be enough.”
