You know it’s time for a reality check when Anna Cardwell, 28, takes to Instagram to share her brave journey through her cancer battle. On May 10, she posted a selfie with her boyfriend, Eldridge Toney, captioned with an update on her chemotherapy rounds.
Anna Cardwell wrote, “Well going on to round 3 of chemo… Over all it’s going good and chemo is working we come to find so things are looking good [sic].” Though she did mention experiencing some sickness after eating at Cracker Barrel, it seems like Anna’s remaining optimistic and taking things one day at a time.
Mama June Opens Up About Anna’s Diagnosis
Mama June: Family Crisis star, June Shannon, recently opened up to In Touch about her daughter’s diagnosis. She confirmed that Anna Cardwell has already completed two rounds of chemo and is scheduled for a third round next week.
June said, “She is doing OK. The second round was a little bit rough on her.” She also talked about the emotional impact of Anna’s cancer on the family. As Anna “Chickadee” Cardwell’s mother, Mama June admitted that she has been struggling as well, saying, “I know as her mother, if I’m struggling some days, I know she has to be really struggling some days.”

Adrenal carcinoma is a rare disease in which cancerous cells form in the outer layer of the adrenal gland. According to the National Cancer Institute, Anna Cardwell’s diagnosis came after she complained of stomach aches. Subsequent tests revealed cancer in her liver, kidney, and lung.
Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson, Anna’s younger sister, confirmed her diagnosis via Instagram on March 30. She shared a screenshot of a TMZ article reporting the news and emphasized the importance of acknowledging that celebrities, like her family, face real-life challenges too.
She wrote, “Yes, I’m very famous, but normal s–t happens to me and my family [and] y’all need to realize that asap.”
