Christine Brown isn’t sugarcoating her feelings about her ex-husband Kody Brown. During a revealing interview on Radio Andy, she described him as a “deadbeat dad.” The comment didn’t surprise many Sister Wives fans who’ve followed the unraveling of Kody’s relationships, but hearing it so directly made waves.
When host Andy Cohen asked Christine to sum up Kody in three words, her frustration was evident. “Deadbeat dad … Sorry, that’s two, but that can be two,” she said, making no effort to soften her words. She also added, “Oblivious.”
Janelle Brown, who also participated in the interview, tried to inject a bit of levity. “He’s charismatic,” Janelle admitted, before adding, “I do think he is selfish, I do, and I do think oblivious is probably good. Like, he seems to be sort of like, I don’t know, the reality is bewildering to him.”
Christine Brown, however, wasn’t ready to find a silver lining. “I really can’t think of anything nice to say about him,” she said, hinting at lingering anger over Kody’s treatment of both her and their children.

Sister Wives: Fans Applaud Christine and Janelle Brown’s Honesty
Sister Wives fans took to social media to cheer on Christine and Janelle for being honest about their rocky experiences with Kody Brown. Many viewers suspect that Kody is focused on his relationship with Robyn Brown. This has left other family members feeling neglected.
“Finally, the truth is coming out,” one fan commented. Others felt validated hearing Christine openly criticize Kody’s parenting, which has been a hot topic among the show’s audience for years.
During the interview, Christine revealed how the fractured family dynamics have impacted her six children with Kody. “It’s devastating to have your kids have daddy issues,” she admitted. “My relationship with my dad is one of my favorite relationships. And to have kids who struggle with their dad, it’s really, really hard.”
Sister Wives: Christine Urges Her Kids to Keep the Door Open for Kody
Despite her frustrations, Christine Brown is trying to help her kids with their complicated relationship with Kody. “I just tell them, ‘You’ve got to accept him where he’s at,’” she shared. “‘And be open, just be open when he calls, answer the phone.’”
Christine and Kody Brown were spiritually married for 25 years before their split in 2021. They share six children: Aspyn, Mykelti, Paedon, Gwendlyn, Ysabel, and Truely. While Christine has since moved on and found love with David Woolley, her frustration with Kody’s parenting choices remains palpable.
“I just don’t get it at all,” Christine continued. “I think his kids are some of the best people that I’ve ever met in my life. They’re incredible people, and he has a choice to be in their life. And I just don’t think he’s really taking it so he can fully be in their life, and it’s his loss. ‘Cause they’re amazing people.”

Sister Wives: The Kids Grow Closer, Even Without Kody
Despite Kody Brown’s absence, Christine and Janelle Brown said the Brown kids have grown closer. “They get closer and closer, I think, as the years go by,” Janelle said. “And I’m really grateful for that. Our children have really managed to maintain close bonds even though they do live across the country from each other.”
This sense of unity among the siblings is one bright spot in the family’s ongoing struggles. But it also highlights Kody’s growing distance from his older children. After Christine left the plural marriage, Janelle and Meri followed. This left Kody with only one relationship: his legal wife, Robyn.
