Kody Brown stirred up emotions once again in the latest episode of Sister Wives, revealing that he feels “betrayed” by many of his children. The family patriarch blames his estranged children for their bad relationships. He says their mothers spread rumors about him.
The episode, which aired on October 6, featured Kody. He candidly explained his hurt feelings to his remaining wife, Robyn Brown. He felt isolated and rejected by many of his older children, especially those he shares with his ex-wives, Christine and Janelle Brown.
“They’re purposefully leaving me out of their lives to punish me for a crime I did not commit,” Kody said. “I’m only guilty of not falling madly in love with their mothers.”
But Kody’s tearful confession upset Sister Wives fans. They believe he’s avoiding responsibility for his broken relationships with his kids. His comments resonated with his daughter, Maddie Brown Brush. She seemed to address his claims in a pointed social media post.

Maddie’s post seemed to respond to Kody’s remarks on the show. He described her as “shuffling her kids away” from him at a recent family wedding. Kody painted a picture of estrangement due to his children’s coldness. Later, Maddie’s mother, Janelle Brown, clarified the situation.

Sister Wives: Janelle Brown Defends Her Daughter’s Actions
Janelle Brown didn’t hold back when explaining why her daughter kept her distance from Kody Brown at the wedding. According to Janelle, Kody had not made any real effort to be present in Maddie’s life or the lives of her children. In fact, Kody had been absent from his grandchildren’s lives for years, making Maddie reluctant to reintroduce him as a sporadic figure.
“He hasn’t seen the kids in so long,” Janelle explained. “Maddie doesn’t want to confuse her children by having their grandfather suddenly appear, only to disappear again.”
Kody, however, blamed Maddie’s move to a different coast. He said the distance was why he wasn’t involved.
Sister Wives: Is Kody Avoiding Responsibility?
Many Sister Wives fans were unhappy with Kody Brown’s latest claims. They accused him of shifting blame instead of owning up to his mistakes.
Over the years, viewers have seen Kody distance himself from some of his children. This is especially true after his marriages to Christine and Janelle ended. Now, many fans believe that Kody’s estrangement is a direct result of his actions, not his children’s.

Sister Wives: Robyn Brown Urges Kody to Reconnect
Despite Kody’s reluctance to reach out to his estranged children, Robyn Brown has consistently pushed her husband to make more of an effort. In the latest episode, Robyn openly criticized Kody for not doing enough to rebuild his broken family relationships.
“I think Kody should be camping out on their doorsteps and saying, ‘Hey, you’re going to talk to me,'” Robyn insisted during a confessional. “Because sometimes that’s just what you’ve got to do.”
But Kody disagreed. “I’m not going to reach out forever,” he said. “I’m willing to make the effort, but somebody else is going to have to be on the other end of that and make some effort too.”
Robyn acknowledged Kody’s broken heart. Still, she urged him to reconcile, even if it meant swallowing his pride.
Sister Wives: Is Reconciliation Possible?
Kody must repair his relationships with his older children. He regrets trying to kick his sons out of Janelle’s house during the pandemic and missing Ysabel’s back surgery.
But with many of his kids feeling abandoned or rejected, will Kody be able to bridge the gap? Maddie’s cryptic post suggests that at least some of his children may be done trying. And with Kody unwilling to “camp out” on their doorsteps, as Robyn suggested, the future of the Brown family remains uncertain.
