Meri Brown, a prominent star of Sister Wives, is standing firm on keeping her married name even after her divorce from Kody Brown. Despite ending her spiritual marriage with Kody in 2023, the 53-year-old has no plans to revert to her maiden name of Barber.
“That’s all anybody knows me as,” Meri shared in a recent People interview. “I definitely wouldn’t ever change it back to my maiden name.” Having carried the name Brown for 34 years compared to the 19 years she spent as a Barber, Meri finds it more natural to stick with it.
However, the Sister Wives star isn’t entirely ruling out a change. “I’d probably keep [my name] until I get married again and change it,” Meri joked. “Hopefully, his last name also is not Brown.”
Meri Brown’s reflections on her name come amid her foray into the dating world. After a brief fling with a man named Amos, she’s been open about using dating sites and mutual friends to find partners. She hinted at a romance, sharing a festive Instagram post with a “mystery man,” Brandon Stone. She captioned it, “It’s a Christmas miracle!” #LifeIsGood.”

Sister Wives: Meri Responds to Kody’s Shocking Intimacy Claims
Meri Brown is charting her own path. But, Kody Brown’s recent comments about their past intimate life have outraged fans and Meri. In a December 29 episode of Sister Wives, Kody shared a startling claim about their relationship post-legal divorce in 2014. He alleged that after filing the divorce to marry Robyn and adopt her children, he and Meri went to dinner and later “made love.”
Meri didn’t hold back in her response, calling Kody’s comments “disgusting.”
“I think it’s kind of disgusting that he would bring up a potentially intimate moment,” she stated. “I can guaran-damn-tee you that he would never talk about those moments in this setting with his wife.”
The accusation has only fueled criticism of Kody Brown. It is for his treatment of his ex-wives, Meri, Christine, and Janelle Brown. Fans have long speculated that Meri was most neglected in their plural marriage. It grew more strained after Robyn joined the family.
Sister Wives: A New Chapter for Meri
Meri Brown is now focusing on personal growth, new relationships, and her bed-and-breakfast, Lizzie’s Heritage Inn, in Utah. Though she remains tied to the Brown name, Meri is proving she’s anything but tethered to her past.
“I’m learning about myself. I’m learning about other people,” she shared. “Even if it’s just not a funny vibe, nothing’s wrong with a person. It’s just not for me.”
