Janelle Brown isn’t playing around when it comes to protecting what’s left of her assets from her plural marriage with Kody Brown.
In the next Sister Wives episode, airing on November 10, Janelle tries to save her ex-sister wife Meri Brown from financial ruin. The stakes are high. The two women co-own the Coyote Pass property in Flagstaff, Arizona, with Kody and his last wife, Robyn Brown.
In a tense scene, Janelle lays out the harsh reality. “I’m going to suggest to you that you protect your interest in it as far as what you’re entitled to – a quarter of it,” she says firmly to Meri, who seems taken aback by the urgency of the warning. Meri, in her usual optimistic style, pushes back gently, asking, “Don’t you think that we have each other’s backs?”
But Janelle doesn’t sugarcoat her response. “No, I really don’t,” she replies, leaving Meri visibly unsettled. For Sister Wives fans, this moment reveals the Brown family’s deep trust issues. They persist despite many splits and betrayals.
Sister Wives: Meri Brown’s Doubts: Can She Trust Janelle?
Despite their history of tension, Meri is left wondering if Janelle might actually be right this time. In a confessional, she processes Janelle’s warning.
It leads her to a sobering thought: Kody and Robyn may not care about her regarding the property. “Would Kody and Robyn really go into this thinking, ‘Maybe we should get all of the property?’ I don’t think that they’re going to screw us over,” Meri muses, though her hesitation is evident.
The Coyote Pass property is no small matter. The family purchased the four adjacent plots with plans to divide them into five pieces and build their dream homes.
Now, years later, they’re on a tight deadline to pay it off. As Meri explains to viewers, “We’re now at the point in the next couple of months that we need to pay it off.” But with only Robyn left in the marriage and the other wives estranged, the financial landscape has dramatically changed.
Meri’s uncertainty about her fellow ex-sister wife’s motives comes to the forefront in another intense exchange. “Do you not have my back?” Meri pointedly asks Janelle.
In response, Janelle gives a candid but caring answer: “I will watch out for you, but I just want to make sure, Meri – this is really your entire estate. I’m just telling you that you should be aware of what’s going on.”

Sister Wives: Janelle Breaks Down the Risk: Will Meri Listen?
Janelle Brown’s concern isn’t baseless. In her confessional, she details the risky situation Meri could be facing if she doesn’t act fast. “Meri technically is entitled to a quarter of the value of the property,” Janelle explains.
However, there’s a major catch. “Her name is only on one piece, and it’s in conjunction with Kody and I, so if worst comes to worst and it’s sold, she probably won’t get a quarter.”
The shared land is one of the few remaining assets Janelle and Meri have from their marriages to Kody. Janelle, who left the plural marriage in December 2022, is well aware of how high the stakes are. During the September 22 episode, she even floated the idea of “lawyering up” against Kody to ensure she isn’t blindsided.
“This property represents basically the only asset we would be taking from the marriage,” Janelle said. She stressed the need to secure their financial futures. Meri, who also split from Kody in 2022, may need to heed this advice or risk losing her investment.

Sister Wives: Kody and Robyn’s Role in the Family Drama
The last sister wife, Robyn Brown, feels “abandoned” by her former sister wives, especially in December 2023. However, fans have seen that Robyn and Kody’s bond has grown. But, their relationships with other family members have shattered.
Christine Brown was the first to leave in November 2021, citing how she and Kody had “grown apart” after more than 25 years of marriage. Janelle followed a year later, and Meri’s official release from the church in January 2023 closed the chapter.
With everyone else out of the picture, some fans worry about Kody and Robyn’s intentions. Janelle’s protective stance toward Meri could be a sign that she knows the stakes all too well. Will Meri take the necessary steps to protect her share, or will her trust in Kody and Robyn leave her vulnerable?
