Sister Wives: Kody Brown Claims He Would Have Stayed in Loveless Marriages

On the September 22 episode of Sister Wives, Kody Brown had a candid moment. He reflected on his broken relationships with ex-wives Christine, Janelle, and Meri Brown.

Despite being spiritually married to all three, Kody admitted that he never intended to leave them, even though he didn’t feel in love.

Kody shared that his relationship with Meri, his first wife, had always been difficult. “I didn’t know who she was when we got married. She was very different,” Kody revealed in a confessional. “There’s some baggage that Meri had that I didn’t know about initially. I felt like I could live with it … but I can’t live in a world where she is constantly angry at me.”

When Meri asked their church to end their marriage, Kody disagreed. He admitted their relationship was damaged. “In plural marriage, if he wants to stay faithful and in the faith, he cannot request a divorce.

It’s not allowed,” Kody Brown explained. “I didn’t necessarily want out of the relationship. I wanted to know if we could save and fix it.”

Despite Meri’s efforts to move on, Kody confessed, “I wasn’t going to leave them, no matter how much I didn’t love them.”

He said it was his ex-wives who ended their marriages. Christine, Janelle, and Meri all chose to part ways.

Sister Wives: Kody’s Thoughts on Loyalty and His Future With Robyn

Kody Brown is now only legally married to Robyn Brown. He says his loyalty is with her because she has been loyal to him and the other sister wives.

“Robyn has always been loyal to her sister wives and she has always been loyal to me,” Kody explained. This, he believes, is why their relationship lasted while his other ones did not.

However, Kody refused to take full responsibility for the breakdowns of his marriages. “They made choices that separated us,” Kody said, acknowledging the role his ex-wives played in their splits. He continued, “Maybe I made choices that separated us, but they eventually moved on.”

Christine, the first of Kody’s wives to leave him in 2021, has since moved forward with her life, followed by Janelle and Meri in 2022. Kody is now navigating life with only one wife remaining in the plural family structure that once held strong.

Sister Wives: Janelle Brown and Kody’s Ongoing Property Battle

As Kody Brown reflects on his past marriages, Janelle Brown faces a fight. She must decide the fate of the Coyote Pass property in Flagstaff, Arizona. In the September 22 episode, Janelle opened up about her lack of communication with Kody as their separation continues.

“Kody and I are not in communication,” Janelle revealed in a confessional. “Our relationship is over, but we both still live in Flagstaff. There’s not been an official divorce. I don’t know how to get one, and I don’t need one.”

The former couple has yet to resolve the issue of the Coyote Pass land, which remains unpaid. Janelle told her daughter Maddie, “t’s insane to me that Kody is not taking this more seriously.” She was frustrated with Kody’s refusal to make a plan to pay off the remaining debt.”

Sister Wives: The Complex Ownership of Coyote Pass

The property at Coyote Pass has been divided among Kody Brown and his former wives, leaving Janelle in a difficult position. “So the first two-acre lot right now is Kody and I.

The second two-acre lot is Kody and Robyn. The third is a four-acre lot and it’s Meri, myself, and Kody,” Janelle explained.

Janelle noted that the land represents the only asset she and Meri are likely to take from their marriages.

As she continues to try to secure her stake in the property, Kody’s unwillingness to communicate about the land has added more tension to their already strained relationship.

“We will pay off the property when the time comes, and I’m not giving any details about what I’m doing because I’m tired of disclosing information that goes through the gossip mill of our broken family,” Kody said, revealing that he no longer trusts Janelle.
