Kody Brown is still holding on to what could have been. The Sister Wives star recently admitted that he never saw his relationship with Janelle Brown coming to an end.
Even though she left him in December 2022, Kody is now reflecting on their connection, claiming they “could have worked it out.”
Adding to the drama, Kody only found out about Janelle’s move to North Carolina by accident-and he wasn’t happy. Meanwhile, Janelle is fully moving on and even considering a spiritual release from their marriage.
Sister Wives: Kody Brown Shocked by Janelle Brown’s Secret Move
Kody Brown is once again feeling left out-this time, because he was never told about Janelle’s plans to relocate.
“I don’t know how to explain this,” Kody said on the February 2 episode of Sister Wives. “It was never intended for me to know that Janelle was moving.”
According to Kody, he only found out because one of their kids slipped up and told him.
“One of my children, at their admission, slipped up and told me,” he revealed. “They asked me, ‘Please don’t repeat that or pretend you never heard it.’”
On the other hand, Janelle Brown insists she wasn’t keeping secrets-she just didn’t feel the need to inform Kody.
“I didn’t tell Kody,” Janelle admitted. “Our lives are not overlapping in any way. It just didn’t really feel like it was any of his business what I was doing.”
And she has a point-Janelle has been independent for years, and after their split, she’s focused on her own happiness rather than Kody’s approval.

Sister Wives: Kody Brown Admits He and Janelle “Could Have Worked It Out”
Despite Janelle Brown making it very clear that she’s moved on, Kody is still holding onto the past.
“Janelle was a different story,” Kody confessed. “I always thought … I just felt like Janelle and I could have worked it out.”
Kody thought he and Janelle still had a chance. This was different from Christine, who quickly remarried David Woolley, and Meri, who endured a loveless marriage for years.
But Janelle doesn’t feel the same way. After over two decades together, she realized she had outgrown Kody and was ready to live life on her own terms.
“Janelle is a strong independent woman and realized she can do it on her own,” an insider previously revealed.

Sister Wives: Janelle Considers a “Spiritual Release” Like Meri Brown
While Kody Brown is still clinging to hope, Janelle is ready to make things official-spiritually speaking.
Meri recently went through a “spiritual release”, a term used in their religious community to symbolize the end of a spiritual marriage. Now, Janelle is thinking about doing the same.
“I know Meri has just recently gotten a release, which is a divorce,” Janelle said. “And it’s made me think, ‘Huh, I kind of like the idea of getting a spiritual release.’”
The only problem?
“I don’t even know who to call,” Janelle admitted.
Regardless of whether she goes through the spiritual process or not, it’s clear that Janelle doesn’t see Kody as part of her future.
Sister Wives: Kody Brown’s Future: Alone With Robyn?
Now that Christine, Janelle, and Meri have all left, Kody is left with only one wife: Robyn Brown.
He recently shared that he still sees Meri as a friend and has “hope” they will reconnect. But when it comes to Janelle, it’s obvious that she’s moved on-whether Kody wants to accept it or not.
As for Robyn, fans have noticed that she and Kody seem more isolated than ever. Financial troubles, the Coyote Pass mess, and Robyn’s rumored shopping habit make things tough for the last couple in the once-large plural family.
