Janelle, 54, expressed gratitude on Instagram for donations made to @highcountryhumane and @arkcatsanctuary in Garrison’s memory. The cats he adopted from these agencies meant a lot to him. He cherished being a cat dad.
Her son passed away on March 5 in Flagstaff, Arizona, from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Garrison’s younger brother Gabriel found him after Janelle asked him to check on the 25-year-old, who had stopped texting.
According to a police report, Garrison’s final text read, ‘I want to hate you for sharing the good times. But I can’t. I miss these days.’ Their last conversation was brief and ended abruptly.
Janelle Brown and her ex-husband, Kody Brown, shared a joint statement to announce their son’s passing. They described Garrison as a bright presence and asked for privacy to honor his memory.
Garrison’s last social media post featured his new senior cat, Ms. Buttons, whom he rescued from a shelter. He referred to himself as a “Crazycatlady” in the caption.
Following Garrison’s funeral on March 9, his cousin Emma confirmed the details. Janelle’s daughter Maddie later shared a photo of her mom enjoying time with her grandchildren at the beach for some relaxation.
