Pauline Potter joined the cast of My 600-lb Life in 2015, a few years after being announced as the world’s heaviest woman in the Guinness Book of World Records.

As the episode entitled “Pauline’s Story” revealed, the Sacramento native has struggled with compulsive eating since childhood. When she turned 51, she weighed 678 pounds – and was in desperate need of medical intervention. Let’s investigate: Has Pauline lost weight? Where is she now?

Pauline Potter moved from Sacramento, Calif. to Houston, Tex. just to arrange some meetings with the chief bariatric surgeon Dr. Younan Nowzaradan (aka Dr. Now).

However, their relationship went south immediately after the first meeting. Dr. Now performed bariatric surgery, and also established a diet plan that allows Pauline Potter to lose weight gradually. She found the program too demanding, abandoned the mandatory exercise and resumed her old eating habits.

Dr. Now decided to transfer Pauline Potter to the hospital once she started gaining even more weight. Pauline protested even more strongly, claiming that she knew what her body needed better than any medical professional. She had to leave the program.

“Pauline’s self-destructive behavior continues to be a problem,” she said. “She has no intention of changing at this time,” Dr. Now remarked at the time. However, the treatment has led to some changes. At the end of the year, Pauline Potter weighed 529 pounds, Cinemaholic reveals.

Unfortunately, the success did not last long as Pauline Potter sought comfort elsewhere. She developed an addiction to painkillers, which led to further complications.

In 2016, Pauline was rushed to hospital with sepsis, a life-threatening condition triggered by a burst ulcer, according to the International Business Times.

“That fat girl in me is still there […] The doctor fixed our stomach, but he didn’t fix our minds. I have to keep fighting,” he explained in a 2017 episode of My 600lb Life: Where They Are Now.

The heartbreaking experience prompted Pauline to pay even more attention to her diet plan – and her weight was finally dropping again.

She hasn’t looked back since. According to The Cinemaholic, Pauline has made significant progress in recent years. In 2019, she had to undergo skin removal surgery – a necessary procedure for those who have lost a significant amount of weight.
