Pauline Potter made headlines in 2011. She was the heaviest living woman, over 700 pounds, according to Guinness World Records. At the time, Pauline’s size required her to rely on a motorized scooter and the care of her son, Dillon. Overwhelmed, she sought help to improve her health and regain her independence.
“I used to love being big, but it went too far,” Pauline admitted during her appearance on My 600-Lb Life. Her relationship with her ex-husband Alex, who was attracted to larger women, contributed to her rapid weight gain. However, after their split, Pauline realized that her health was deteriorating, and she needed a drastic change.
She shared, “It’s too difficult for me to even get up now. Someone has to pull my head while I rock myself into a standing position.” Determined to turn her life around, Pauline sought help from Dr. Nowzaradan and joined the cast of My 600-Lb Life Season 3.
My 600-lb Life: A Rocky Start With Dr. Now and Her Struggle With Weight Loss
Pauline Potter’s time on the show wasn’t without its challenges. Starting at 643 pounds, she initially resisted Dr. Nowzaradan’s strict 1,200-calorie diet. At one point, her weight increased to 678 pounds, almost jeopardizing her eligibility for weight-loss surgery. Dr. Now’s no-nonsense approach, however, helped her push through.
“Weight loss surgery should not be viewed as a quick fix,” Dr. Now emphasized. “It is a tool to help support you in your weight-loss journey.” Pauline managed to lose 44 pounds, which was enough to qualify for surgery. But even after the procedure, her journey was far from over.
Pauline faced new obstacles, including an addiction to pain meds. It slowed her progress. Yet, she refused to give up. With time and effort, Pauline lost 300 pounds. She qualified for skin removal surgery.
My 600-lb Life: Pauline Potter Lost Over 500 Pounds and Found Freedom
By 2019, Pauline Potter had achieved an extraordinary milestone-losing over 520 pounds. After years of struggling with her weight and health issues, she officially ended her journey, declaring she was ready to reclaim her life. “I am very proud of the commitment and progress Pauline has made,” Dr. Now shared on Instagram, praising her dedication.
Fans were quick to celebrate Pauline’s incredible transformation, with one commenter posting, “Pauline is literally one of my faves… So glad for this post! Pauline, you go, girl!” Another fan added, “Wow!!! I’m so proud and happy for her. She came a long way.”
