OutDaughtered: Busbys’ Halloween

Adam Busby and Danielle Busby’s 2021 Halloween family theme caused a bit of a stir on Instagram. As we’ve previously reported, many OutDaughtered fans took to the comments to say how much they loved the spooky and fun funeral theme.

Unfortunately for TLC parents, not everyone thought the CoCo inspired costumes were tasteful. In fact, Adam and Danielle Busby received criticism for their costume choices on all three platforms where they posted the photos.

In comments on all three of their Instagram profiles, several fans took to the comments to accuse Adam Busby and Danielle Busby of “cultural appropriation”. In a comment on Danielle’s profile, which was liked over 156 times, one OutDaughtered fan even went as far as to call on TLC parents to “do better” with their costume choices.

OutDaughtered: Busbys’ Halloween

On their joint Instagram profile, Adam Busby and Danielle Busby explained that the girls have a slightly different take on their 2021 Halloween family theme. Adam Busby and Danielle Busby referred to it as a Day of the Dead theme. The girls, on the other hand, thought they looked more like characters from the Disney film CoCo.

Many OutDaughtered fans hoped that the parents would take the costumes as a learning opportunity and teach the girls about the Day of the Dead, rather than just have them refer to the costumes as CoCo characters.

Those who follow Adam know that he has never hesitated to fire back at Instagram trolls. However, he seems to be taking a different approach to this latest criticism. The person who originally posted the comment noted that they posted a similar comment on Adam’s profile. They added, however, that Adam Busby appeared to delete all negative comments about cultural appropriation rather than respond to them.
