This season 1000-Lb. Sisters Amy and Michal Halterman have struggled with their decision to find a new “forever home”. As little Gage has grown into a tiny, almost walking toddler, their tiny, one-bedroom abode has quickly become too small for their burgeoning family. Last week’s episode saw the couple actively looking for a new home – but will they find one?

Amy Slaton and her husband, Michael Halterman, knew for some time after their pregnancy that their tiny two-storey apartment was no longer an option. In fact, their home, with just one bedroom, is overflowing with their belongings and their growing collection of baby equipment, which has caused quite a stir.

Amy and Michael were trying to tidy up their small room so they could last a little longer. Unfortunately, the couple have since realised that they need more space sooner rather than later.

Even though Amy and Michael knew they couldn’t stay forever, they put off finding a new home for a while. Amy Slaton has repeatedly expressed that they made the decision to stay because Amy was afraid of abandoning her sister. Tammy Slaton, still over 640 pounds, is now almost twice the size of her younger sister. Unlike her sister, Amy was cleared for surgery in her first season. Through her efforts, she has since lost over a hundred pounds. She happily reports that her quality of life has improved dramatically.

Now, on the other side of the operation that changed her life, she sees her sister becoming more and more dependent on others. Amy Slaton, who was Tammy Slaton’s primary caregiver for many years, hired a nurse at the beginning of the season to help Tammy with basic daily tasks such as cooking, cleaning and basic hygiene. Many of these tasks were things Amy was once responsible for herself.

Amy Slaton said she hoped having a sister would prepare Tammy Slaton to be able to manage more independently of her sister. Celebrity knew that with Gage coming, they would eventually need more space. In addition, Amy needed Tammy to start taking responsibility for her own life, because soon Amy’s main focus would be on her newborn son.
