Hunter King on Set of “Hidden Gems”: Meeting Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and the Future of the Film

Hunter King, one of Hallmark Channel’s most promising young stars, recently shared an exciting behind-the-scenes story from the filming of “Hidden Gems.” In an interview with Just Jared, the actress recounted a surprising encounter with none other than Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson on set.

Filming in Hawaii

Hidden Gems” is a Hallmark movie about a young woman named Addie, played by King, who loses her grandmother’s ring in the waters of Hawaii just before her sister’s wedding. She hires a diver named Jack, played by Beau Mirchoff, to help her find the ring. The two eventually come to appreciate the beauty of the ocean and each other, leading to a heartwarming conclusion.

King revealed that she was thrilled to be part of the project, as the script was “everything you could hope a Hallmark movie would be and more.” She was on the edge of her seat while reading it, excited for viewers to experience the same emotions.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s Surprise Visit

While filming a scene where Addie and Jack had just finished a dive, King and Mirchoff were joking around with some of the scuba gear props. Mirchoff started curling some of the air tanks to get a bicep “pump” when they noticed Dwayne Johnson watching them from the beach.

Dwayne Johnson approached them and introduced himself, telling Mirchoff that he saw him using the scuba gear to get a pump and that he was “taking notes.” King described the encounter as funny and surprising, as they never expected to see such a big celebrity watching them on set.

King’s Career and Future with Hallmark

King’s role in “Hidden Gems” is just one of many in her young career. She’s appeared in films such as “A.I. Artificial Intelligence” with Jude Law and William Hurt, and in TV shows like “Hannah Montana” with Miley Cyrus, and “Life in Pieces” with Colin Hanks and James Brolin. However, she’s best known for her role as Summer Newman on the soap opera “The Young and the Restless,” and for her work with Hallmark.

Recently, King signed a multi-picture deal with Hallmark, ensuring that fans will see more of her on the network in the future. She expressed interest in making a sequel to “Hidden Gems,” as she loved working with the cast and thinks there’s more story to tell. From Addie’s summer program to seeing if Jack takes his sailing trip around the world, King believes the audience would have fun watching more.
