Sister Wives: Meri Brown has felt left out of the family in recent years

Meri Brown of TLC’s Sister Wives has moved away from the rest of the polygamous Brown family in recent years. Problems with her husband Kody Brown have left Meri at a standstill even with her sister wives, while Meri and Kody Brown have considered divorce and stopped spending the night together.

In the February 23rd episode of Sister Wives, “Doubting Polygamy”, the division between Meri and the rest of the Brown family became even more evident. Meri’s sister wives, Janelle, Christine and Robyn Brown, seemed to subtly refuse her offer to host family reunions at her home. Fans talked about the awkward moment on Twitter as the episode aired.

This wasn’t the first time Meri seemed to feel left out of the Brown family.

While Meri and Kody said their marital problems started a long time ago, their struggles were exacerbated when Meri became an empty nesting ground. Due to infertility problems, Meri had only one child, her daughter Mariah Brown, with Kody. When Mariah went to college at Westminster College in Utah, Kody’s first wife began to feel isolated from her sister wives, who all have at least five biological children.

In addition, Meri legally divorced Kody around the same time to allow him to adopt Robyn’s three children from a previous marriage. While the Brown religion does not recognize legal divorce as legitimate, Meri still has difficulty losing the state’s recognition of her marriage to Kody Brown.

Meri was also tempted by a romantic relationship with a catfish in 2015. Jackie Overton, a notorious and alleged internet scammer, allegedly posed as a man to flirt with Meri. When the online flirting was discovered, Meri and Kody’s marriage seemed to fall apart. Meri also talked about feeling rejected by her “sister wives” in the wake of her problems with Kody Brown.

Sister Wives: Some Fans Were Upset That Meri Brown’s Sister Wives Seemed To Reject Her

As the episode aired, some Sister Wives fans went on Twitter to express their frustration at Meri’s family’s lack of response to her offer to host family reunions in her rented house.

Many viewers were confused as to why no one seemed to respond positively, or at all, to Meri’s offer. “I can’t understand why everyone was so rude when @MeriBrown1 offered her her home,” one Twitter user wrote. “I felt really bad for her.”

Another viewer of the Sister Wives agreed, writing in response, “Neither did I, and frankly, it bothered me. It was terribly rude of all of them IMO. She offered at least a temporary solution so that they would have a roof over their heads in case they didn’t have a house when Robyn had to vacate. Not very plural family”.

A Twitter user wrote directly to Sister Wives asking why Meri seemed to have been so blatantly rejected by the family. “Meri made a VERY generous offer and none of you recognized her! Why?” they asked.
