Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright are exploring all options to avoid divorce, including dating other people. In the latest episode of their podcast “When Reality Hits” on May 31, Taylor, 44, addressed rumors about his recent outing with model Paige Woolen.
“I am not — I repeat not — dating anybody. I was seen out with someone and it was strictly lunch. Obviously, Brittany and I are separated and have been for a long time,” he explained. “What we are going through right now is tough. Marriage is not easy.”
Taylor revealed that they are considering therapy, separation, and possibly dating others to figure out their next steps. “We are trying to exhaust everything before we have to go down the divorce road — if that would be the case,” he said.
Exploring New Relationships with Rules
Jax Taylor emphasized that both he and Brittany Cartwright, 35, are on the same page about dating others. “We are both in agreement that this is OK. The most important thing, though, is our son,” he added.
Taylor clarified that the arrangement includes guidelines. “Part of taking some time apart means exploring other people. All marriages are different but this is what is good for our marriage. This is something we talked about and we are on the same page. We have a couple of rules with it but this is what we are exploring.”
He assured listeners that Brittany Cartwright is also exploring her options. “That is not to say Brittany isn’t doing what she’s doing. I know it’s not out there what she is doing but she’s doing her own thing, too,” Taylor said.
Despite the rumors, Taylor reiterated his stance on dating. “I am not dating anybody — nor do I plan on dating anybody,” he concluded. “I don’t know if I am ready to start the dating thing again. I don’t think I am. We are just hanging out right now with whoever. I know Brittany is probably doing her own thing too. We are in argument about it.”
Scheana Shay Weighs In
Scheana Shay had her own take on the situation during her “Scheananigans” podcast. She questioned Woolen’s appearance at Jeremy Madix’s birthday party, where Woolen jokingly announced she was “pregnant” while standing next to Taylor.
“This sense of humor that you think you have is not going to fly with this friend group. There’s nothing funny about what you said,” Shay remarked. “By her saying that, it opened the door for so many people to scrutinize Jax and Brittany’s parenting and to talk about Cruz,” referring to Cartwright and Taylor’s 3-year-old son. “I know Brittany was really upset this weekend because of that.”

Brittany Cartwright Defends Her Son
Brittany Cartwright, who has remained relatively quiet about the situation, shared her frustrations via Instagram. She posted a video on May 26, showing a fan’s horrified reaction to Taylor’s behavior on “The Valley.”
“Thank you, & just imagine what I’ve been through behind closed doors,” she wrote.
On May 28, Cartwright defended her son Cruz in an emotional Instagram Story, slamming negative comments about his well-being amid the breakup. “You guys can reel in the drama of my life I don’t care but leave my innocent son’s name out of it!!!” she wrote.
Cartwright stressed that strangers should not act like they know what’s going on in Cruz’s life from watching a short segment of a show. “I do everything I possibly can for him so how dare some of you!? He is a perfect and innocent child,” she added. “Enough is enough!!!!!!”
Navigating Separation
Since their separation announcement in February after four years of marriage, Brittany Cartwright has been candid about the challenges. “Marriages in general are very hard and I’ve had a particularly rough year this past year,” she shared on their podcast.

Correspondents’ Dinner, revealing different perspectives on their relationship. Cartwright stated, “We’re still very much separated. Different hotel rooms, all the stuff. But we are very friendly with each other. We’re raising our child, so that’s most important, but there’s no back together right now.”
Taylor, however, expressed hope for reconciliation. “We’re talking. We’re eating dinner, we’re going out for drinks,” he told E! News. “So, who knows? Do I want to be back together again? Of course I would, but, you know, we gotta see what’s healthy for us and our son.”
