’The Family Chantel’: Over And Done?

Another 90 Day Fiance couple bites the dust. Pedro Jimeno has filed for divorce from his wife Chantel Everett. The news comes as no surprise to fans of their spinoff, The Family Chantel. They had long seen the couple in crisis, but the hope was that their problems were only cosmetic. Now, however, it seems that the story is more complex than anyone imagined.

’The Family Chantel’: Over And Done?

Pedro Jimeno and Chantel Everett met when she was on vacation in the Dominican Republic. Naturally they fell in love while on vacation, and she continued to travel to see him. Her family was not thrilled with him, skeptical of his intentions. He did not care, as he asked her to marry him and they went on with their relationship.

Soon they appeared in the fourth season of the series, documenting the transition of him coming to live in Georgia. She let her parents know that he was in the United States on a student visa to alleviate their fears that he was only using her to get a green card. Once in America, other problems began to arise. Pedro’s family expected him to send them money and gifts now that he had a new life. They did not realize that it was an adjustment process to get him settled here.

Despite everything, Pedro Jimeno and Chantel Everett got married and even joined their families to get married in the DR. The in-laws clashed tremendously and this contributed to a major spinoff, The Chantel Family. Pedro’s sister liked to interfere with the marriage by alluding to her brother’s infidelity.

Chantel also had drama within her own family, as her sister Winter had body issues and struggled to live up to Chantel’s “perfect image.” There was always turmoil in the marriage, much of which had to do with families and outside influences. Then, with the beginning of the fourth season, it became clear that this relationship needed serious resuscitation. Now it seems to be irretrievable.
