Colton Underwood 'Bachelor' Star Reveals ... I'M GAY

Colton Underwood has not been heard from in the public for some time. Shortly after a messy break-up with his ex-girlfriend Cassie Randolph, during which she filed a restraining order against him, he went silent on Instagram despite having 1.9 million followers.

But it seems the former footballer is ready to speak to the public again. On April 14, 2021, The Bachelor spoke to Robin Roberts on Good Morning America and revealed to the world that he is gay.

Fans of The Bachelor will remember that Colton Underwood hosted season 23 of the hugely popular show. After competing on Becca Kufrin’s season, he briefly starred on Bachelor in Paradise before being named the next leading man. The former athlete was marketed on the show as the “virgin” Bachelors. At the time, she insisted that the experience had simply never been there for her. However, she told Roberts that the real reason she gave up was her sexual orientation.

“I was totally a virgin before that and I could never give anyone a good enough answer as to why I was a virgin,” he said. Colton shared about being named The Bachelor in 2018. “The truth is, I was a ‘Virgin Bachelor’ because I was gay and I didn’t know how to deal with it.”

Colton shared that he knew he was “different” from the age of six. However, it wasn’t until the first year of high school that he knew he was gay. However, because he grew up with religious roots and had attended Catholic school, he was taught that being gay was a sin. He continued to fight his truth and when he was chosen as The Bachelor, he considered it a sign from God.

“I literally remember praying to God the morning I found out that I was The Bachelor and thanking Him for making me straight,” Colton recalled. “I remember that vividly, of saying, ‘Finally, you’re letting me be straight. Finally, you’re giving me a wife, a fiancée, and then I’m going to have the kids, then I’m going to have the house, and then I’m going to have all this.'”

The Bachelor didn’t end up giving Colton a fiancé, but he did find a girlfriend on the show. He managed to start a relationship with Randolph, who had previously left the show, after Hannah Godwin and Tayshia Adams dropped out.

The couple dated for almost 2 years before they split. Their break-up, coupled with the pandemic, really forced Colton to take a closer look at himself and who he really is. So does he regret ever being “The Bachelor”?
