Sister Wives: Put On a Show About ‘Normal’

Sister Wives star Kody Brown might find that his best laid out plan has gone south and it’s coming to a head today. It has been more than a decade since Kody told his bride-to-be, Robyn , that she would be part of a reality show. Robyn Brown thought he was just holding out a dream to her. But thanks to Christine Brown, that so-called dream came true for the Sister Wives patriarch.

Robyn Brown was surprised when she heard that Kody Brown and his family would become reality stars. But it apparently didn’t stop her from getting married. Christine Brown was a bit of a local celebrity at the time. This continued before the Sister Wives series hit the drawing board. The third wife to join this Sister Wives plural marriage was the spokesperson for a group. This popular local group called Principle Voices was religiously based. Christine Brown spoke on the local news and at local colleges. She gave speeches and answered questions about the lifestyle of polygamy.

During her travels, she met a man who became interested in the Sister Wives story of Christine Brown’s family. So she told Kody about this encounter. Then he met this producer and the Sister Wives series was born.

Sister Wives: Put On a Show About ‘Normal’

Kody was excited about doing the Sister Wives show. But his then three wives and a fourth bride-to-be were not as excited as he was. Eventually Kody got his four wives to see it his way. It was his mission to show the world how normal his Sister Wives’ families really are. This was when another religious sector that also practiced polygamy got a bad rap about child brides. It was at a time when countless horror stories were playing out in court and making headlines.

It seems that Kody thought it was his duty to set things right. So he and his Sister Wives ladies opened their doors to the cameras of TLC Sister Wives.

The five adults, along with their 18 children went out to relay their story. They demonstrated how, on any given day, plural marriage is as normal as most monogamous marriages. But did it work?

In the beginning, the Sister Wives family softened the opinion of polygamy for many people. The women were so engaging and for the most part quite normal. The Sister Wives patriarch and his wives seemed to do the impossible, navigating through jealousy and coming out the other side unscathed. But today, fans seem to wonder how much pain these grown men caused each other.

The last two seasons revolved around Kody’s relationship with his first wife, Sister Wives. His treatment of Meri Brown was at times horrific. Then her messages to fans seemed to suggest that she was ready to pack up and leave.

Suddenly, Meri and her husband are in a photo together and she lets it be known that she “loves this man.” She also makes sure her fans know that she is not going anywhere. She’s also staying with the family. So, has Kody’s mission failed at the end of their Sister Wives run? In the new season, will the leader of the group be able to salvage everything he broke down in the last few seasons?
