Where Is Tracey Matthews, The Star Of ‘My 600-lb Life,’ Now?

Do you recall Tracey Matthews from the fifth season? It feels like ages since we saw her on the series. I bet you’re all curious about her now. Well, I’ve got the scoop on Tracey’s progress and her life now. So, let’s jump right in and explore how Tracey has been doing following her remarkable weight loss adventure.

If you need a quick reminder, Tracey made her debut on the program at age 44. She weighed 606 pounds. Her ability to move around had been impaired due to lymphedema, which resulted in substantial swelling in her legs. Furthermore, she had to grapple with cellulitis infections. They added to the difficulty of her weight loss. Nonetheless, she was resolute in altering her life and enhancing her well-being.

With the help of Dr. Nowzaradan (Dr. Now), Tracey managed to lose 90 pounds. Despite regaining some weight, she persisted and lost a total of 167 pounds after nine months. Instead of going through traditional weight loss surgery, Dr. Now removed 201 pounds of excess skin from her legs. Tracey looked healthier and more optimistic after her My 600-lb Life journey.

Life After My 600-lb Life

Tracey Matthews made big sacrifices on the show. She moved to Houston for weight loss sessions with Dr. Now. A mom of three (Branden, Tierra, and Ryan), Tracey needed her husband Anthony with her. Together, they faced tough times but got through it.

Now, Tracey and her family reside in Lorain, Ohio. She’s a happy grandmother to four cute grandchildren. Her Facebook page is full of their adorable pictures.

Health Updates

In 2020, Tracey started a Q&A session with her fans on Facebook, where she gave updates on her health. According to Starcasm, she revealed that she still suffered from lymphedema, but the pain was more manageable. Tracey had one lymphedema mass removed while on My 600-lb Life. She said it was the most painful experience of her life. But despite the challenges, she’s come a long way and continues to make progress.

Behind the Scenes

Many My 600-lb Life alums feel mistreated by Megalomedia. Tracey revealed participants got $1500 as a “talent” fee. The company promised a $2500 moving allowance to Houston. But, money came only after episodes aired.

Cast members had to support themselves till then. Tracey and her husband had only $13 in Houston. They managed without the company’s aid. Additionally, cast members got no residuals from episode airings.
