Counting On: Jill Duggar And Derick Dillard Have Come Up With Creative Ways To Make Money

Jill Duggar spent her teenage years in front of the cameras of a reality TV series, and this continued for a while with her marriage to Derick.

Jill and Derick eventually separated from both their large extended family and from television, leaving many fans wondering how they made a living.

Fans first met Jill, along with her parents and siblings, during the TLC show “19 Kids and Counting”. People got to see Jill and Derick courting, their big wedding and the birth of sons Israel and Samuel.

The TV channel dropped the original series after Jill’s brother Josh was caught up in a scandal, but she returned with sister Jessa Duggar and others for Counting On. Jill and Derick, however, parted ways with TLC and the series completely in 2017.

Several of Jill Duggar’s siblings stayed with Counting On, while some branched out and did their own thing, like Jill and Derick. Given the situation Jill and Derick found themselves in, having been significantly estranged from their extended family, their fans asked how they were coping financially. In general, the couple decided to be quite open in sharing their strategies.

Jill and Derick shared on their YouTube channel in September 2020 that they have put together several different income streams. The former Counting On stars noted that they have monetized their YouTube channel so that their fans can help their family’s income simply by watching. In addition, Jill earns income through blogging and social media advertising, including Cameo. Derick Dillard noted that throughout her time at university and law school, she made ends meet through scholarships, bursaries, savings and working. Both Derick Dillard and Jill Dillard grew up in households that focused heavily on avoiding debt, so they never felt that piling on debt was an option.

Through Jill Dillard’s experience at TLC, however, the family did make some money. However, they had to fight for that money. Allegedly, Jill Dillard, Derick, and his siblings did not receive a paycheck during their years in the movies.

Recently, Jill Dillard and Derick Dillard coordinated with a lawyer to claim back their wages. Derick Dillard said that what they received was less than what Jill should have received, and barely more than minimum wage. Nonetheless, they were relieved to get something.
