Love Is Blind: Damian Powers and Giannina Gibelli’s first date on ‘Love Is Blind’

Giannina Gibelli and Damian Powers fell in love and got engaged in the first season of Netflix’s Love Is Blind. They didn’t get married, but the two are still happily together today.

In the April 14th episode of the podcast Love In Sight, the couple told about their first date in the pods. It didn’t go so well. According to Damian, the technical difficulties were largely to blame.

“Our first date didn’t go so well. The first day we had 15 dates, you know, 15 different women, 15 different men, seven minutes each. A lot of trouble with the microphone and stuff when you go into these pods. You hope you’re not tied to the pod right in front of you. You never know what’s going on. I came in and said, “Hi,” he started it.

At the same time, Giannina came in and said, “Hey, what’s your name?” But Damian didn’t hear her. So he said again, “Hi, what’s your name?” And, provocatively, he said Giannina: “I asked you first.”

“And I said, ‘Okay, well, my name’s Damian. Can I have your name now? You felt that tension. It was like Latin exuberance. I was like, “D*mn, that voice.” I was really in this conflict of how, beautiful voice. I talked to her for a few minutes and I said, “That’s the sexiest voice I’ve ever heard in my life.” I traveled all over the world. And I was just in awe. Boy, that was a lot. It was very aggressive, but maybe I should try again,” Damian said.

After their first day of dating, Damian said he talked to landlord Nick Lachey. “He was like, ‘How are your dates going? Is there anyone you wouldn’t go out with again?” Damian said he thought about the date with Giannina Gibelli. “Maybe one or two. One was just like the fiesta. The other one didn’t work,” he said.

At the end of the first day, the couple says they rated each other about 6 or 7 out of 15. Nothing special.
