My Big Fat Fabulous Life: Whitney Thore's Big Life Changes

Fans of MBFF know that Whitney Thore was diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome at the tender age of 23, but they may not know how her struggle to lose weight and stay positive is constantly hampered by the disease. Whitney Thore, who burst onto the scene after making a YouTube dance video called simply, Fat Girl Dancing, has shared her struggles with weight loss and body positivity almost every step of the way.

However, there may be more to the My Big Fat Fabulous Life star’s struggles that many fans are aware of. Let’s talk about polycystic ovary syndrome and what Whitney Thore has had to deal with on her journey.

MBFF has been a hit since producers picked up the show and viewers have followed it closely, almost every step of the way. Fans have watched the reality star fall in love, get engaged and then suffer through heartbreak that saw her single for two years.

The 37-year-old reality star has also started her own business. In the latest season, we’ll see the body-positive dancer consider IVF and learn more about her burgeoning relationship with her mysterious Frenchman.

My Big Fat Fabulous Life: Whitney Thore’s Big Life Changes

Those who faithfully watch My Big Fat Fabulous Life have witnessed Whitney Thore’s many ups and downs and how she maintained body positivity during her struggles and health issues. One in ten women are afflicted with polycystic ovary syndrome, which can include a range of symptoms including weight gain, hair loss, interrupted menstrual cycles and even facial hair growth.

Being the positive and upbeat woman we all know, it’s no surprise that Whitney Thore joked about her problem on the show, describing her PCOS symptoms as “bearding, balding, and being fat.” All jokes aside, PCOS is a condition in which the ovaries produce too much of the male sex hormone called androgen. As a result, small cysts can form inside the ovaries that make ovulation difficult at best and impossible at worst.

Fans learned in season 1 that she had the condition, and she began spreading awareness about PCOS by practicing her fitness regimen and maintaining body positivity. Of course, coming to terms with her condition was not an easy task, and she subsequently suffered from anxiety and depression.

Having had weight issues since her teenage years, it wasn’t until her diagnosis that she changed her mindset and started exercising and leading a healthy lifestyle.

The reality star has become an inspiration to women all over the world.
