The loss of the former main stew Kate Chastain was strongly felt throughout the Below Deck fandom. Without her, who would laugh at Captain Lee’s jokes or keep him company aboard a ship full of horny 20-year-olds who are more focused on hitching up than on keeping the ship afloat?
Kate announced that she was sailing to the new pastures in February and promised to continue “His Majesty Andy Cohen’s full support” in an Instagram post. She stayed in the herd, offering her comments to Below Deck Med and Sailing Yacht, on Watch with Kate, and also appeared on Bravo’s Chat Room.
She told Decider the new show is “fundamentally a dream come true” for a “Bravo super fan” like her. She also admitted to the publication, “I can’t wait to see how Captain Lee treated it in my absence. I need to know who brought him his Cheerios and how his pants were ironed,” which should calm the minds of the fans who were worried that the BFF wouldn’t continue their friendship after Below Deck.
Aside from giving her inimitable take on the various Below Deck shows, Kate could be on screen in another popular Bravo staple soon, if she has her way.
RHONY: Kate Reckons Real Housewives Of New York Would Be Less Stressful Than Below Deck
In an interview with US Weekly, the former Below Deck star indicated that she wanted to join the Real Housewives of New York, arguing that her experience over six seasons at sea prepared her for what would probably be a less stressful work experience.
Kate explained: “It’s like below decks. You can drink and talk about the people on the show in confessionals without the work. The former head stew loves the idea of not putting on a uniform, too, especially considering one of her reasons for saying goodbye to the hit franchise was not wanting to wear a skort at the age of 40 (per Cheatsheet).
Kate is so serious about joining RHONY that she has her own slogan all ready to go. She revealed, “My My old tagline used to be: I may have a resting b***h face, but that’s the only part of me that’s ever resting”.
But now that she’s not working on yachts anymore, the lower deck fan’s favorite has gotten enough rest, so she might have to change it. Chastain recently left Florida for NYC, leading the fans to speculate that she might really join RHONY (via Instagram).
I can’t stand her. She thinks she’s funny,she’s not. She’s nothing special to look at. New York housewives are my favorite so I really hope they don’t have her on.
