Fans of TLC’s long-running medical reality series My 600-lb Life will know that when morbidly obese patients featured on the show come to Dr. Younan Nowzaradan, they come to him not only with severe physical conditions, but also with the mental and emotional trauma that is often the catalyst for their food addiction.
At the beginning of each episode, patients describe in detail their childhood and upbringing. In the course of these flashbacks, most patients reveal early trauma that left them isolated and scarred, with food as their only source of solace.
In the first season of the series, which followed four patients over seven years (2004-2011), viewers met Ashley Randall, a 24-year-old young man from Killeen, Texas. At the first weigh-in in Dr. Now’s office, Ashley Randall weighed 617 pounds.
While he wasn’t the heaviest of the first season’s patients, Ashley Randall was the youngest in his cohort, which meant he was gaining weight faster than the others, indicating he’s likely to gain a lot more weight before he turns 30. Like most of the participants in the series, Ashley Randall experienced trauma, which helped trigger his weight regain.
Where Is Ashley Randall From My 600-Lb Life Now?
Ashley’s My 600-lb Life episode ended with her weight at 253 pounds and weight-loss surgery for her legs on the horizon. Ashley Randall returned to TLC for a refresher on “Where Are They Now?”, during which she revealed that she hasn’t been an active participant in the Dr. Now program for three years.
As a result, her weight went up to 312 pounds. Clearly frustrated, Dr. Now told Ashley, who still longed for surgery on her leg, to lose 30 pounds in two months; she only lost two. Eleven years into her journey, and after returning to Dr. Now’s program, Ashley weighed 272 pounds. Her “Where are they now?” episode ends with Dr. Now encouraging Ashley to drop below 200 pounds to qualify for her leg surgery.
Unfortunately, there’s no mention of Ashley Randall’s current condition or what she’s done since “Where Are They Now?” episode aired in 2016. According to her Facebook page, Ashley Randall is still living in Killeen, Texas.
Her most recent picture on the platform, dated January 2020, shows that while Ashley wasn’t yet in her target range, she still seems to maintain a much healthier lifestyle than when her journey began in 2004.
