Counting On: Derick And Jill Claim Jim Bob Controls His Children And The Tlc Money

It was no surprise to count on fans that former stars Jill Dillard and Derick Dillard missed the Duggar family Christmas celebration in 2020. According to Derick Dillard, he and his wife didn’t even receive an invitation.

But Jessa Duggar says that’s absolutely not true. She claims that no one in the family has been “banished”. But if that’s the case, why didn’t Jim Bob Duggar respond to Derick and Jill’s shocking claims?

Derick Dillard and Jill ran away from Counting On at the end of 2017. Since then, the couple has become more and more vocal about why they decided to leave reality TV. Over the past few months, Derick and Jill Dillard have been making YouTube videos answering fans’ questions about the messy situation. But long before that, Derick called Jim Bob on social media.

However, it hasn’t always been that way. As Cafe Mom points out, Jim Bob is the reason Derick Dillard and Jill Dillard met. Many years ago, Jim Bob was Derick’s mentor and he introduced him to his daughter.

At that time, Derick Dillard lived in Kathmandu, Nepal, so he and Jill started a long distance relationship. Jim Bob finally traveled to Nepal with Jill so she could meet Derick Dillard in person and they could start their courtship. The relationship between Derick and Jill Dillard changed quickly after that. They tied the knot just a few months after they met, and Derick became a regular client at 19 Kids & Counting, before it changed to Counting On. However, it wasn’t long before problems arose between the young couple and her parents.

Counting On: Derick And Jill Claim Jim Bob Controls His Children And The Tlc Money

Derick Dillard has claimed in several social media reports that the main reasons for the relationship with Jim Bob were money and control. Jill Duggar doubled those claims in her and Derick’s recent YouTube videos. Before they officially left in the fall of 2017, Derick Dillard and Jill spent a long time trying to leave Counting On. They explained that every time they tried to pursue their own projects and interests, they were shut down.

The couple also claimed that Jim Bob kept all of the TLC money the family received over the years. The Duggars have had their own reality show since 2008. It’s not clear what the family earns for the series, but some have estimated as much as $40,000 per episode.

In order to get paid, Derick and Jill say they had to call in lawyers. In the end, Jill was able to get some compensation that Derick Dillard says adds up to nothing more than the minimum wage.
