My 600-lb Life: Where Is Tammy Patton, The Star Of ‘My 600-lb Life,’ Now

When Tammy Patton was just 9 years old, her father’s drug addiction put his family in financial difficulties. As a result, Tammy’s mother, Pauline, moved to Texas with Tammy and her brother to make a fresh start. It was then that Tammy turned to food to cope with her loneliness, as she had to leave her friend and the rest of her family behind in California.

At the age of 10, Tammy weighed about 150 pounds. Her mother admitted that she was responsible for Tammy’s obesity, and that she never put Tammy in control or forced her to go on a diet.

Tammy continued to gain weight and by the time she finished high school she was over 300 kilos. She then moved away from her Texas home to pursue higher education, but returned home because she couldn’t cope with the homesickness and pressure.

Tammy was overjoyed after meeting her boyfriend Victor Greer at the age of 19. During their time together, the couple had three daughters. Sadly it didn’t last long and the couple split up, although Victor kept in touch with his daughters.

In a tragic incident, Victor was stabbed to death by his then-girlfriend, who suspected he was returning to Tammy . Victor’s death hit Tammy hard and she fell back into her addiction to food. At the age of 30, she weighed over 500 pounds and at the time of the episode, Tammy weighed only 594 pounds at the age of 41.

Tammy has often mentioned that although she had to ask her family for help after her body limited her mobility, her grandchildren eventually made her realise she needed to lose weight.

Tammy wanted to be a loving grandmother to her grandchildren, but found that her weight was preventing her from caring for them. So Tammy embarked on a long and arduous journey with Dr. Now, which ultimately saw her lose an astonishing 126 pounds.

Tammy Patton’s biggest victory is her victory over food addiction. She was able to follow Dr. Now’s instructions and get her eating habits under control. Although Tammy struggled in the early months of the programme, she managed to lose quite a lot of weight before the Covid-19 pandemic arrived.

This pandemic was a huge obstacle for Tammy, because once she was confined to her house, she began to compromise on her exercise and diet. Over the next seven months, Tammy lost virtually no weight, which hindered her chances of surgery.

However, sheer will and stamina won the day as Tammy , determined to reach her approved surgical weight, lost 98 kilos after just 14 months on the programme. By the end of the episode, Tammy Patton had lost a whopping 126 pounds. Dr. Now also approved her weight loss surgery.

Tammy Patton’s story inspires us and we hope she continues to overcome milestones on her journey to regain control and a healthy life.
