Counting On: Josh Duggar Arrested

Reality TV star Josh Duggar was arrested Thursday in Arkansas by federal agents in connection with the sale of used cars he once owned there.

The 33-year-old Josh Duggar was held without bail in Washington County, TMZ reported, citing law enforcement sources.

In a photo released by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Josh Duggar is slightly disheveled and grinning.

It’s unclear what charges he faces – but his arrest is linked to a 2019 Homeland Security raid on his now-closed used-car dealership in Springdale, Ark, a source told The Sun. “The family has known that this has been coming for weeks, and Josh has been preparing himself,” the source said. “Family members are extremely concerned by what is happening and they just want to find out the truth.”

Duggar, the eldest of Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar’s 19 children, rose to fame on 19 Kids and Counting, a TLC show about family. The show was cancelled in 2015 after allegations surfaced that Duggar had molested several underage girls – including four of his sisters – as a teenager. He issued an apology and was never charged.

Josh Duggar also resigned from his position at the Washington, D.C.-based Christian lobbying organization Family Research Council because of the allegations.

Another scandal hit him in 2015 after it emerged that he had used the online dating service Ashley Madison for married people. Josh Duggar admitted to cheating on his wife of 33 years, Anna Duggar, and later entered a faith-based rehab programme and attended marriage counselling.
