Little People, Big World: Amy Roloff's Emotional Struggles and Triumphs as a Mother

If you’re a fan of TLC’s Little People, Big World, you’ve certainly heard of Amy Roloff. This past week, the reality TV star bravely opened up about her lonely struggle after giving birth to her twin sons, Jeremy and Zach, during her marriage to ex-husband Matt Roloff. She shared her story during an Instagram Live session with her best friend, Lisa Dixon.

Amy and Lisa began their conversation by talking about Mother’s Day. Amy believes all of May should be reserved for celebrating mothers. The discussion prompted Lisa to comment on Amy’s dream of always wanting to be a mom. Amy confessed that she had a difficult time getting pregnant. She attributed her struggles to her health issues as a child, and irregular cycles that made it challenging for her and Matt to conceive.

Little People, Big World: Fertility Treatments & Worries

Amy Roloff and Matt Rolof tried to conceive naturally for several years before deciding to visit a fertility clinic. There, she received fertility treatments that increased her chances of having “more than just one baby.” This prospect, she admitted, was worrying. “Being a little person, I knew I would be able to carry one baby but could I carry two? Could I carry three?”

Amy Roloff prayed not to be put in a position where she would have to let go of one or more babies because her body couldn’t carry them. But once she learned she was carrying twins, Jeremy and Zach, she felt confident in her ability to go through with the pregnancy.

Little People, Big World: Challenges After Birth

Delivering the twins via c-section, Amy Roloff recalls the loneliness and challenges she faced postpartum. She and Matt had just moved to Oregon and she found herself alone handling two newborns while Matt had to return to work.

This week, Amy Roloff celebrated Mother’s Day by sharing a group photo on Instagram, posing with her daughter Molly and sons Jacob, Jeremy, and Zach. Despite her daughter Molly leading a private life away from TLC cameras and social media, Amy still shares her pride and love for her children publicly.

Amy divorced her ex-husband Matt in 2016 and is currently married to Chris Marek. Matt has also moved on and recently announced his engagement to his girlfriend Caryn Chandler. Amy’s son Zach and his wife Tori are the parents of three children, making Amy a proud grandmother.

Through her candid conversation, Amy encourages women and moms to keep faith at the forefront of their everyday lives. It’s clear that despite the struggles, she cherishes motherhood and views her four children as the greatest gifts.
