Season 16 of Sister Wives was very interesting for Kody Brown and his four wives. Finally, he told Christine that he no longer wanted an intimate marriage with her. In return, she let him know that he was no longer welcome in her bedroom.
Also, she packed up all of his stuff and left it in the basement. For him, he felt that all marriages did not need romance. He explained that he had seen many marriages that worked well without intimacy. In fact, Kody had one with his first wife, Meri, for years.
He’s married to her, she’s not going anywhere, and he made that abundantly clear. Throughout the season, Meri has been seen grasping at straws to get her husband’s attention. Fans have deemed her pathetic and she has acknowledged that.
However, she doesn’t care what people think. That could all change when the story airs on Sunday, January 30. Kody is not in the best place with some of his wives and he is about to cut Meri even deeper.
Viewers have seen the marital ups and downs of Kody Brown and Meri Brown over the past twelve years. It started with her being the main legal wife and everyone else spiritual. Also, she was the one who brought Robyn into the family by encouraging Kody to dance with her. That’s when the sparks flew and the courtship began. Kody Brown and Meri Brown still seemed to have a functional marriage.
Their biggest problem seemed to be that she had only given him one child, Mariah. Yet this was not for lack of trying, as Meri struggled with fertility problems. Her relationship with Robyn was so strong that Robyn offered to be their surrogate mother.
Unfortunately, the relationship began to fall apart as Meri Brown looked for love on the internet. This almost destroyed the family. After that, Kody Brown and Meri Brown’s relationship became a simple friendship.
Last season, she was seen on their thirtieth wedding anniversary trying to work out their problems and get back together. He claimed that he wanted her to court him, but in reality, he didn’t want anything more to do with her. This season, she was grasping at straws for any attention he would give her. Although he has made it clear that the marriage is over, she keeps trying. Now it’s chatting time, the first in a handful of seasons, and Kody Brown isn’t holding back, especially when it comes to Meri.
Sister Wives: The Marriage With Meri Brown
One of the themes revisited in the narrative is the ‘affair’ of Meri Brown, which ultimately involved catfishing on the internet. Fans are so tired of hearing about this incident.
Let it go. However, they do want to know how Kody really feels about his marriage to his former first wife. She’s just a woman now, since they divorced in 2014 so he could marry Robyn and legally adopt her three children from a previous marriage. Although he and Meri are just friends, which actually led to the breakup.
She says there was a rift in their marriage that made her wonder why they were in it in the first place. Eventually, they sought counselling, which led to her telling him that they would not get back together. The host asks why she didn’t just leave him. He argues that it’s a double standard because women can leave whenever they want but he can’t. He then challenges her, saying that she has emotionally left. He takes offence to the word ‘abandonment’, claiming that Mer had an affair. Kody claims he was leaving her, told everyone, but had to back out when he was catfished.
