My 600-lb Life star Melissa Marescot turned to Dr. Now for guidance and supervision. She was morbidly obese and needed to lose weight to save her life. Melissa did well under Dr. Now’s supervision, Melissa was doing well, but what happened when the cameras stopped rolling? Did she continue to lose weight or did she revert to her old unhealthy eating habits?
Melissa Marescot is a 36-year-old woman who had struggled with her weight through a lifetime of trauma and abuse. Fans may remember that Melissa’s problems began at a young age. She grew up in an abusive home and took a lot of abuse from her mother. Things got worse when her father walked out of her life. She turned to eating for comfort.
But things got even worse when she became pregnant at the age of 15. Melissa decided to have an abortion, which seemed to make matters worse, she dropped out of school and fell deeper into depression. Her weight problems continued and got much worse.
Turning to Dr. Now for help, Melissa, who weighed almost 600 pounds, was told to follow a strict 1200-calorie diet. She was also advised to see a psychotherapist to help her deal with stress and emotional trauma from her past. She did brilliantly and when she returned to Dr. Now, she lost over 150 pounds in total, reaching 440 pounds. Although this was a huge achievement, it was still not enough to get the operation. So Dr. Now asked Melissa to move to Houston to continue her program.
What Melissa Marescot From My 600-Lb Life Is Doing Today
Melissa decided to go against Dr Now’s advice and returned to Florida instead. As she said during the episode, she didn’t see the point in moving. She’d already started working on the goals she’d set at the beginning, such as traveling, going out and hanging out with friends. In fact, she started dating again, meeting her new boyfriend Elijah, whom she met through her best friend.
