The theory that Jinger Duggar is the resident rebel of the Duggar family is so engraved in the collective minds of the family’s followers that it is difficult to find out when the theory was born. More specifically, it is difficult to find out exactly why so many people pinned her down as a maverick. To understand how Jinger was labeled the Duggar family rebel, you have to go back to the early 2000s, before at least four of the Duggar family’s 19 children were born.

Jinger Duggar may not be completely free of her family’s strict rules, but she has let go of some of the more suffocating mandates given by Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar. Jinger was the first of the Duggar girls to wear pants. She was also the first of her siblings to make a bold change in her hair.

Jinger also seems to have broken an unspoken rule. She moved away from her family and lives in a liberal city on the west coast of the United States. Beyond that, however, she has kept most of her family’s strict beliefs. Jinger didn’t kiss before the wedding. She hasn’t promoted her education or secured a job outside the home and, it sounds like she and her husband are choosing a higher power for the number of children they have, according to Us Weekly.

The supporters of the Duggar family have the hope that Jinger would break for a long time. Although she has certainly strayed from the Duggar family geographically, she seems to be quite sticking to the rules when it comes to her beliefs. In fact, another Duggar has turned out to be a family rebel.

Jill Duggar has broken more rules than Jinger and has strayed further from the ideals of her famous family. She and her husband, Derick Dillard, have chosen to send their children to public school and seem to limit the number of children with birth control. Jill Duggar and Derick also seem to drink alcohol, and Derick doesn’t seem particularly opposed to the idea that his wife has a job outside the home. Derick’s own mother has had a successful career.

Jill Duggar, like her sister, wears pants, but has taken it a step further and regularly wears shorts. She’s also pierced her nose and cut her hair. All in all, Jill Duggar seems to be the real family rebel, and hardly anyone saw it coming.
