Mama June: From Not To Hot: The New Baby Will Have A Live-ın Aunt

A new “pumpkin” is joining the patch! Lauryn Shannon Efird, on Here Comes Honey Boo Boo and the various Mama June series, announced on Instagram that she and husband Josh Efird are expecting their second child. The 21-year-old reality star posted a small photo gallery confirming the news. The first picture shows the four pregnancy tests she used, all of which clearly show a positive result. “Well the secret is out for everyone to know now!! Baby Efird #2 coming 2021,” Lauryn wrote. “After almost 3 years we are finally getting another blessing and we couldn’t be happier.”

The other two photos are ultrasound shots from January and March, showing that the new baby is developing nicely. The picture taken on 8 March shows that Lauryn was just over 20 weeks pregnant at the time, meaning the new baby should arrive towards the end of July. The couple’s older child, Ella Grace, turned 3 last December.

The Shannon family was once a fun-loving, unabashedly redneck clan whose exploits became popular on reality television. In recent years, however, Lauryn has traded mud-slinging for motherhood.

Not only is she raising little Ella, but she’s also currently the mother of her younger sister Alana Thompson.

When their mother, June Shannon, developed a serious drug addiction, Lauryn took Alana Thompson in to give the young teenager a safe and stable life. Alana is happy and doing well at school, but the extra responsibilities have been hard on Lauryn . In recent interviews, she has admitted to being a little resentful of her mother for essentially abandoning Alana and not providing money for her care. 

Now clean, sober and remorseful, Mama June is trying to reconcile with her daughters and other family members, an emotional process played out in TLC’s new series about family, Mama June: Road to Redemption.

Lauryn Shannon has said that while she wants her mother to rebuild her relationship with Alana and Ella, she wants to make sure Mama June is truly committed to sobriety before fully opening that door. Her focus is now on her growing family and self-care; Lauryn has been working on a nutritious diet and increased activity.
