Pumpkin was going through financial problems in her life while June was spending money on drugs. She was hurt because Mama June was not there for her daughter and did not help her. Besides, Pumpkin didn’t feel it was something her mother could boast about. Star says it is “somehow embarrassing”.

It seems that Mama June’s fame affected her daughters negatively. Pumpkin was having a hard time finding a job. Staar explains: “especially during Mama’s addiction where like, I was trying to apply for jobs, and they wouldn’t hire me because they see what was going on with her.”
