Mama June: From Not To Hot: Alana Thompson Wants June Shannon To Be There For Her

Mama June Shannon’s family is once again in turmoil. After Alana Thompson and mother June Shannon became famous in the “Toddlers & Tiaras” spinoff series “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo”. But the family’s trials and tribulations proved too much for reality television.

According to TMZ, the series was canceled before season five due to Mama June’s alleged affair with a convicted child molester. “Supporting the health and welfare of these remarkable children is our only priority. TLC is faithfully committed to the children’s ongoing comfort and well-being,” the TV channel announced while paying for home tutors and mental health counselors for the Shannon children.

Yet Mama June did not stay out of the spotlight for long. For 2017, she helmed the series Mama June: From Not to Hot and Family Crisis, plus a 2021 special, Mama June: Road to Redemption.

Despite the reportedly huge salaries for fame, the Shannon clan is not as rich as one might think. Mama June was arrested in 2019 for drug possession, according to People, and she revealed that she has lost most of the family fortune over the years due to her addiction. June Shannon even claimed to have spent over a million dollars on crack cocaine.

June must now confront her daughter Alana Thompson. In a 2021 episode of Mama June: Road to Redemption, Alana confronts her mother after not speaking to each other and spending more than a year apart.

“It’s just hard because you weren’t there for my first day of high school, and I think that’s a pretty big thing,” Honey Boo Boo told Mama June through tears in the clip. 

Alana went on to ask Mama June why she wasn’t there as a parent when Honey Boo Boo needed her the most.

However, Mama June reminded Alana that she needed to work on her drug addiction. “I know I was selfish when I went to rehab. To be honest with you, I’m still a little bit selfish in my recovery,” explained Mama June. “But I’m willing to do whatever it takes to get you all back in my life.” 

While it remains to be seen if Mama June and Alana will mend their relationship, one thing is for sure: Mama June needs to continue to be sober for her daughter. “You don’t know how many nights I cried myself to sleep just hoping and praying that you didn’t overdose,” Honey Boo Boo cried. We can only hope for the best for this broken family!
