Christine Brown revealed that she didn’t really care what her husband Kody Brown said or thought during the 16th season of Sister Wives. Fans were both shocked and appalled by this behaviour. But had the former third wife always been like this? Was she the rebellious sister-wife all along?

Although she was initially the most passive of the wife, Christine Brown’s mood eventually changed over the seasons. Viewers first met the Brown family over twelve years ago and the original three women played very different roles. Meri was known as the first and only legitimate wife. That was her claim to fame, but more than that, she helped ‘recruit’ others. She had known the other two women before they came into the family, so her friendship was helpful.

Second wife Janelle was the workhorse, so she was out from morning to night and liked it that way. Fortunately, third wife Christine Brown was the happy homemaker who cooked, cleaned and helped raise all the children. Eventually, she began to see that she was living for everyone but herself.

By the time Robyn Brown came into the picture, she was so in love with Kody Brown that she was able to start after Christine Brown, as Kody Brown later told us. Christine started doing things on her own and saying “no” when it didn’t fit her lifestyle.

Apparently she often threatened to leave Kody Brown because the plural lifestyle was very difficult. She dealt with her stress with her husband, but he would simply dismiss it or get angry. Eventually, she grew tired of Kody dictating to her what she could and couldn’t do, especially when his pandemic protocols appeared. They pushed him over the edge and he was going to do what he wanted, when he wanted, until he was safe. He didn’t like it, but he didn’t care.

In one of the resurfacing Sister Wives clips, Reddit started a thread about whether Christine Brown has always been rebellious when it comes to Kody Brown. They sit on the couch for a confessional and discuss Ysabel’s scoliosis curve number.

Naturally, she thinks he’s right. However, he is adamant in his opinion. Soon she is just determined not to be wrong and Redditor points out that she has to breathe a certain way to avoid being attacked. The common thread is that everyone just wants to punch him in the face for his behaviour. Yet Christine has never backed down, so it shows that she has always stuck to her convictions.
