Derick Dillard didn’t hold back from commenting when he saw a news story confirming that his father-in-law, Jim Bob Duggar, was running for Arkansas State Senate.

The news broke yesterday with an announcement on the Duggars’ Facebook page, and it took off from there. Counting On and Duggar followers know that things between Jim Bob and Derick Dillard are strained at best, and the son-in-law has consistently called out and thrown shade at Jill Duggar’s father since 2019.

The comments section quickly filled up when broadcaster KNWA shared a post on Instagram about Jim Bob Duggar’s candidacy for the Arkansas State Senate seat.

There are many fans and followers who have expressed their distaste for Jim Bob’s race, but this comment section included a post from Derick.

It’s not the first time Derick has thrown shade at his husband Jim Bob Duggar. For at least two years, he has been speaking out against her and making remarks about the family. The first big bombshell Derick Dillard dropped was that Jill would not be allowed in the big Duggar house without permission. At this point there was speculation that they were estranged from the family, and Derick just put it out there.

Lately, Jill and Derick Dillard have been doing a lot of Q&A. They confirmed that Jill Duggar Dillard had to sue her father to get the wages she was entitled to from Counting On, which was just over the minimum wage. Earlier this month, Jill revealed that she and Derick had suffered a miscarriage. She received public support from her sisters, but her mother and father did not comment on the post from the family account.
