Below Deck Med: Bugsy’s sister introduced Tom and Malia White

In an expected move, chef Tom Checketts joined the Lower Deck Mediterranean team during his visit to his girlfriend, Bosun Malia White.

After the departure of chef Hindrigo “Kiko” Lorran, the crew was without a chef and Checketts happened to visit Malia just when Lorran left the boat. Captain Sandy was surprised by Checketts’ CV. “It’s amazing,” she says as she stares at Checketts’ qualifications. As soon as the Chives gets only Checketts, she shares that he is the chef she had hoped for for all of them.

“Your resume is to me what I’ve always wanted,” Captain Sandy Yawn says to Tom Checketts. “You’ve worked your way up. You were a sous-chef, and when you used to be trained, you did Michelin star. The part that stands out to me because you’re clearly a chef at 80 yards. Huge difference then on this boat.

Earlier in the episode Christine “Bugsy” Drake revealed that her sister was the one who introduced Malia White and Checketts. Bugsy told third stew Jessica More that her sister worked with Checketts and was the matchmaker.

“My sister actually hooked up with Malia and Tom,” Bugsy Drake revealed in a confessional. “So they were all working together on a boat and Tom was really interested in Malia. So I talked to my sister about it and my sister was roommate with Malia and hooked the two up. I don’t really know Tom, but it’s a very incestuous little world.”

When Checketts arrives on the yacht, he has a warm introduction to the crew. But he insists on hugging Bugsy, even though it’s the first time they’ve met in person.
