Counting On: Jill’s Husband Derick Claimed He Was 'strongly Discouraged' From Talking To Family About Money

Jill Duggar’s husband, Derick Dillard, said he was “strongly discouraged” from talking to family members about their reality show Counting On, he told The Sun exclusively.

Derick Dillard, said he and his wife Jill, were not paid for their appearances on the family reality show.

The accusation caused a rift with Jill Duggar’s parents, Jim Bob, and Michelle, 53, because the patriarch banned them from the family compound.

In an exclusive interview with The Sun, Derick Dillard said he was “not sure” whether other family members, including adult children Jana, John David, Jessa, Jinger, Joseph, Josiah and Joy-Anna, were paid for their appearances.

He said, “We were strongly discouraged from talking to other family members about payment or lack of payment. Derick Dillard also said he was “not allowed” to talk to anyone from the TLC network regarding payment.

Derick Dillard has talked openly about TLC and his father-in-law since they stopped shooting “Counting On” in 2017.

He said why he chose to speak now: “First of all, I want to do what’s best for my family. This includes the timeline of what I share, when I share it, and how I do it”.

“We also don’t know what we don’t know. Our knowledge of the situation has been constantly evolving for years”. Derick revealed on Instagram in December that he was under the impression that Duggar’s children and spouses “didn’t gain anything from the show.

He wrote, “But rather, it was presented to us kids as something that was done as a ministry that TLC subsidized periodically in the form of refunds for things like gas, restaurants, travel, etc… but not a real paycheck beyond that”. He revealed that Jim Bob is “the only one with a contract”.

After the shocking claims, their relationship with her parents was put to the test. He previously told the Sun how their feud caused a rift in their relationship with her siblings.

Derick said, “Because our visit to the Duggar house was limited and that’s where they and their spouses meet, we haven’t been able to see as many other families as we would have liked, which is difficult. “We try to invite the brothers and sisters in law to our house as much as we can.”

Derick Dillard continued, “We hope and pray that God will restore relationships where there are breaks.

“But, at the same time, we recognize that only God can change people’s hearts and bring healing.

Regarding his claim to have been banished from the family compound, Derick said, “I think he is especially concerned about the influence we might have on his children.

Jill and Derick Dillard have been rebelling against the conservative family for the past few years. Jill Duggar has broken the family’s modest dress code by wearing jeans and tank tops.

Israel’s mother, 5 years old, and Samuel, 2 years old, also had a hole drilled in her nose and cut her hair short. They chose to enroll their eldest son in public school, despite Duggar’s tradition of teaching their children at home, and allow their children to listen to rave music as opposed to strictly Christian songs.
